Carol Saunderson grew up in East Anglia and trained at Cambridge College of Art and Loughborough University. She paints abstract landscapes inspired by local rural environment, memory and imagination. She concentrates on the sensation and emotions of being in the landscape at different times, exploring colour and mood. She works quickly and boldly, layering up textures and creating interesting marks and shapes. She is motivated by the work of Ivon Hitchens and Barbara Rae.
